I got four of this chair from a 1962 built house by a well known architect in southern California - very beautiful mid century home. It has the stamped number "26" underneath. I do not think it is Thonet but I really don't know. You help to ID this is appreciated.

doesn't strike me...
as particularly high quality. It looks sort of like a generic, mass-produced American dining chair. It has some Thonet-esque lines for sure. It looks like its in reasonably good shape though!

Without looking into it very closely I agree with DHutch17. I'd think maybe your chair is much older than 1960 as well. Maybe '40s or '20s even. Is the padding on the seat an add-on?

Thornet?
My first thought is this chair is made by Thronet. They did a lot of this type of chair.

I wouldn't even blink twice...
I wouldn't even blink twice if I saw this at a yard sale. The seat reminds me of a toilet lid, in fact perhaps it is... you could fit a commode under the seat.

Than You
DHutch17,cubby01 and Majick for your help and positive reply. I agree with you all on this being possibly an early Thonet and I am still searching to finalize it. cubby01, You are correct, this could be from lot earlier period - possibly 1920's because of the fasteners they have used.

I think it is either Ligna or Thonet.
Cheers,
Tick.
