Always expensive
Good quality foam is always pricey, but since it is a petroleum-based product it's tied to oil prices. In 2008 when gas was $5 a gallon, I know upholstery shops who were freaking out. Not just that the price of foam had gone through the roof, but that they could not even get any from their suppliers.

Yeah, I'm aware of the relationship with crude oil prices. Crude prices have been amazingly stable the past several years. Now, In one month, my estimate went from $150 to $210....with no comprehensible relationship to oil. Got the same quote from a separate upholsterer. Aside from oil prices, they blamed the holidays coming up. Whatever is going on I feel like I'm being fleeced.

It's werid LRF, oil prices stable, foam prices climb. Pegboard, I trust this guy. In the past his quote has been at least $100 lower than others. Now his price up up to $200 and I can only imagine the other upholsters are at $250-$300.
Moving to an optimistc note. Considering that biodiesels are making headway as a viable alternative to petroleum, is it possible we'll be seeing "bio-foam" or "eco-foam"? I've heard of "green foam", but know nothing about it.
