I couldn't resist buying this lamp in my local fancy charity shop. It's made of copper and brown plexiglass, and is meant to be cantilevered from a shelf. The disc that sits on the shelf is weighted. It's a very clever design. There are no marks on it except for the Underwriters Laboratories sticker with number 89,066. i'd love to hear any comments about its origin, and I would say it's 1970s. Thanks.

Kind of an interesting design-
wish your pics were larger.
(Underwiters Laboratories must have assigned numbers the same way the Mahogany Association did, I'd never really noticed. Too bad there isn't a What's-your-Underwriter's-Laboratories-Number thread, eh?)

Ah-- now I can really understand it.
A sphere with cord that can be re-positioned in a cradle like this one is a really good design, it strikes me.
Most swivel lamps are fraught with problems because the cord is enclosed and tends to get overly twisted in time. How many times have we all wrestled with a swivel lamp that refuses to hold the desired position? Not a problem, with one designed this way.
