My first ever post and already asking for advice...
Last Sunday I bought one of my all-time favorite chairs -- a Vintage Hans Wegner CH25. I bought it from a reputable dealer in Seattle who gave me until Wednesday to return it for any reason.
The chair is in great condition with a lot of rich patina acquired over, I assume, multiple decades. It looks just like the type of CH25 I always hoped to find one day (and be able to afford it).
The one thing it does not have is any kind of marking. On the web I found pictures of CH25 that have a silver Carl Hansen & Son/ Hans Wegner sticker as well as a stamped number next to it. Others have a black, stamped marking stating the same.
Mine has none. I checked below the arms ? no sticker and nothing is stamped in. I looked on the inside of the cross bar between the front legs and nothing either (expect for something that looks like some glue residue).
Otherwise every detail of my chair matches the pictures on the Carl Hansen & Son website as well as others from various sites on the web. The craftsmanship is excellent and the entire chair feels very substantial.
Do you know if there are CH25 that, at some point, were made without any markings or types of markings that wear off over time? Is it possible that my chair is just an excellent copy of the original? Please have a look at the pictures of my chair and let me know what you think.
I?m also wondering if it is worth to contact Carl Hansen & Son to check with them?
Thank you for your help,
Andre

Home in the Pacific Northwest
Thank you,
It does feel like a real CH25. Allthough it is only the second one I actually saw in person. The other one was a new one in Black/ Black.
Our home was designed at the same time as the CH25 by a well-known local architect called Paul Hayden Kirk and is located in the Hilltop Community East of Seattle. I added a link that talks a bit about the home in the context of forgotten lessons of Mid-Century Modern design.

Got a reply from Carl Hansen & Son
I wrote an email to the Carl Hansen & Son headquarters in Denmark late last night and received a reply the next morning!
Telling from the photos they think it is a genuine Wegner chair and about 40-50 years old. Back in those days the carpenter incised a number somewhere on the wood. It could be under the armrest or on the inside of the bar between the front legs or some other place that is not immediately visible.
That led me to have another look and I found a number on the underside of the rear left leg that reads 88. I uploaded another picture (see link below) that shows this number.
I'll reply to Carl Hansen & Son later tonight to thank them for their response and check if this number reveals any more information about the age of the chair.
Gene, it is indeed the chair you saw a Chartreuse. It was quite a good deal too (they seem to always have some kind of sale going on) compared to what these usually go for at auction houses like Lauritz or Wright.
