Hello,
I have found this table by chance.
Could anyone tell me if it is an authentic piece?
Since I live in Belgium, chances are substantial that the production took place by Decoene (Kortrijk). Since they produced the pieces themselves and, a couple of tailor made versions have been made by their hand, this could account for the lack of rislan on the bases.
Age: End of the 60's?
Plausible? Any other people with a real saarinen without rislan on the base?
If someone would have detailed pictures on how to spot real VS fakes on early production version please contact me!
Any reaction is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Laurent

I have one of those.
I'm in the U.S. and I bought the table base here at an estate auction. I don't remember the top that it had---I think it was probably plastic laminate with squared edges.
Mine is not a Saarinen. Mine has screw holes to attach the top, for one thing. And if you compare the shape of the pedestal to current Saarinen tables, you can spot several differences:
The diameter of the bottom is bigger. It may look like this is due to the camera angle but compare it to the stem diameter and you will see the differences.
The flare from stem to base on the Saarinen starts lower than on the uncoated aluminum base. If you look at the negative space defined by the base, you can see that the radius of the curve on yours is the same top and bottom while the Saarinen has a smaller radius curve on the bottom.
The chairs have the same type of differences.
I don't have any idea who made mine. There were no marks. I think the shape is very similar, if not identical, to Burke tables made in the US but I've never done this kind of photo comparison with Burke and mine, so I'm not sure. I don't really care, I know mine isn't a Saarinen. I like it anyway, though!
