Hi, I bought 2 bar stools just like this but considerably more bunged up on Ebay and would like to replace the corded backs. But what the heck is this material? Rolled paper? That's what it felt like when I unraveled some.
Anyone know for sure and know where I can buy enough for two chairs?
Appreciate any help.

Fiber rush is paper, but
it's just one ply and I think it may also be lesser quality paper than Danish style paper cord. I had a spool of old fiber rush that I got at an auction and it didn't stand up to any kind of abrasion at all. Maybe fiber rush produced now is better quality, I don't know.
Paper cord, on the other hand is plied---meaning that it consists of two or three strands of twisted paper that are then twisted together. Plied cord wears way better than unplied. (Don't confuse this with "laced". Some places offer laced and unlaced paper cord. One is less textured than the other and I don't know if there's any difference other than the look of it.)
There's seagrass, too---a lot of black metal furniture is woven with seagrass. It's a nice look.
