Any thoughts on where to find a shower curtain, preferably vinyl, for a bathroom with original 30's mostly salmon with burgundy trim tile? I have looked at 1000's on line and they all seem to me to be uniformly ugly. And the design magazines, to include Dwell, only seem to show custom glass, which really won't work with the tiled arch over the tub. Urban Outfitters has a ruffled number, dubious at best, that recommends "spot cleaning"! Help!
Why not something simple that goes with everything?
Like plain white.
Here's my favorite: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=101967
It's cotton, so you'll want an inner vinyl liner: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=10604206
And you'll need nice hooks, too: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=13849528

The Ugly Shower Curtain - Redux
The fixtures have always been white, including a white, cast iron tub with a satin nickel faucet. The floor, when I first encountered it 36 years ago, had lineoleum, which I couldn't abide. I replaced it with small, white American olean tile. I thought I might replace it this time but can find nothing I think will look better. I am having a modern, straight lined (no curves) satin chrome sink on legs (with white china top) with a shelf on the bottom, satin nickel faucet and satin nickel lights, with hooks and an additional glass shelf for storage. Am leaving period dynomite medicine chest, although the mirror is worn. Lights will be similar to what is being removed (period satin nickel) but placed better for better lighting. The walls will be a fairly close salmon match (after reviewing both Ben Moore fan decks, with many test samples). If I can't stand that, I'll repaint it white. You who are still awake are probably saying blech (George Nelson is sexier) but I'm now thinking if I can stand the darkness, matte black sounds pretty cool.
Hey Fastfwd, I followed your advice, lo these many years ago, and bought a very nice crystal pattern vinyl shower curtain, and bought the fabulous Hotel C brushed nickel hooks. However many years later, I came home from a short trip and my cleaning lady had managed to lose one of those hooks. Yikes, they are no longer sold by Bed Bath online and Ihave looked on the net. Everyone, and I mean everyone, seems only to have the closed system ones with the keyhole shape and the little roller bearings. My husband has those in his bathroom but my are they ugly. True they don't fall off so you don't have the problem I now have but... Any idea where I can get those wonderful Hotel C rings? There is no manufacturing info on them and of course I threw out the package long ago. Thanks so much.
Mine have been in storage for a while (glass shower doors in my current place) and I don't remember exactly what they looked like... But maybe these will match yours:

Fast fwd, you are a seven day wonder! That is exactly the one. Although it's noted as pre-owned and looks crooked, I only need one and can pick the best one from the set. The only thing remotely like it that I found, after hours of searching was

which is not the same at all! Thanks so much for your help.
Waffle, I think you're correct but in my case, with burgundy and brownish orange tile, I wanted (and want )to keep it as neutral as possible. However, when I get on a kick, I look at a gazillion of what I'm looking for and I think I even remember your shower curtain, and I think that the goldfish color just might work! However, for the moment, I'm keeping my crystal-themed vinyl 'til it drops.
I can't abide other than real architectural pattern in my decor -- so I use the translucent colorless shower-curtain "liner" as my curtain. I note the maker has begun reinforcing the first and last grommet hole -- a good move. They last a couple of years and then get replaced with a clean one. The worst issue is perhaps the folds, which hang out only after a few months of use.
A light-transmitting shower curtain is important in my bath, whose window in is the bath-tub recess.
