Found an interesting set of eight rosewood dining chairs, including two carvers, could be 60's, 70's. I'm not familiar with Swedish design, but have managed to work out it's in the same vein as Danish furniture of the same period. The chairs are in original condition, the colour very faded, and one joint and one leather seat in need of attention, I think you'd generally describe them as a touch tired.. They bear the makers mark " Troeds , Bjarnum " I found some reference on a Japanese site last night which I think was describing the name of the model of chair as " Garmi " and the designer as " Nils Jonsson ".
Could anyone offer more information on these chairs ? Where I could find more reference ? Level of desirability etc..?
Good Stuff
Thanks Simon, good stuff. So is Nils Jonsson of any particular note ? any idea when they were designed or produced ? and how do the chairs compare in the world of Scandinavian desirability, bearing mind there's eight an they're rosewood, all be it faded ? I'm finding little or no reference and I'm trying to pat myself on the back for a good find.
Garmi - oak
I have four chairs made of oak in my store. In the swedish book "Mobelrad" by Erik Berglund from 1960 can you read about Garmi on page 28.
At that time Troeds only made them of teak. Price in 1960 was between 100 to 150 swedish crowns.
So my chairs is from the mid 60`s. In Lauritz there is a item fore sale: http://www.lauritz.com/Item/Item.aspx?LanguageId=3&ItemId=961943&nBids=5...

Troeds table
Hi,
I have a Troeds table which is absolutely immaculate. I am assuming it is from the 1960's or 70's and am interested if it has any value. You mention that you have a Troeds catalogue and wondered if you could tell me where I could get one, or how I can find out more about my table.
Thanks
