Anyone out there familiar with this lamp? A colleague of mine has one and she states the switch stopped working. It is one of those step on floor switches. I overheard her saying she was going to get a new lamp because of it and thought it was ridiculous as I imagine it has to be an easy fix. I searched a bit online and could not find any discussions of changing the switch but did find out that it has a dimmer built in. Do you think you can just cut the switch out and replace it with a regular inline on/off switch?

Yes, you can replace the switch.
But there are two wires leading to the AC plug, and for safety it's important to put the switch on the correct one: the hot wire, not the neutral.
The existing switch is probably wired correctly, so if you take it apart you'll see which wire is switched. Mark that wire on the lamp side of the switch before cutting the switch off.
When you install the new switch, that marked wire should go to one side of the switch, and the other side of the switch should go to the NARROWER blade of a polarized two-prong AC plug.
