Hi All
Today's find at the flea market. Danish / Mid Century Chair........
Not sure who made it. I have'nt seen any markings or labels. I believe it is teak, that someone painted.
The only name on it I found on the spring attachments say SENO Chicago. Well Made, Old type of flat head screws, To me it says Danish and Mid Century.
I want to refinish it.
I would love to hear what people think.
Do you know who made/designed this chair?

My only thoughts are these:
Your post might have been best added to the recent acquisition thread here: http://www.designaddict.com/design_addict/forums/index.cfm/fuseaction/th...
... and if the only markings on your chair are "Chicago", what makes you think it "says Danish"?
Lastly, I think if you like the design of the chair, if it's comfortable and fits well in your home, why not refurbish it and enjoy it?
But those are just my thoughts. Maybe others have different thoughts.

I was just curious if someone recognized this chair.
Why Danish.. It looks like that style and craftsmanship.
I would love to find more about this chair. Thanks Daws

Hi Daws, there are a few smal...
Hi Daws, there are a few small indicators that mean your chair is probably not Danish, this Ole Wanscher chair is a typical example of what North American, Australian and other furniture manufacturers were attempting to do. Where the armrest joins the front leg should be radiused on the inside, the piece of wood that connects the front and back leg should be joined flush, the backrest should have a curve to it, if the upholstery is original it should be wool or leather. Many good quality Danish chairs have one or two circular stickers or plastic discs on the frame but you don't really need them to be able to ascertain quality. The differences in the chairs basically come down to ease of manufacture and hence expense.

SENG of Chicago NOT SENO
The metal spring brackets actually say "SENG" and not SENO.
Apparently SENG of Chicago was a hardware manufacturer for furniture companies here in the USA and abroad.
I had a slightly different chair with the exact same spring setup and I never figured out who or when it was made.

Thanks for the info
I plan on refinishing this chair. I believe the wood is teak under the paint. I am going to strip the paint, using klean strip ks-3, or zip strip. Here's hoping for some nice teak. I think this chair will be a good learning experiance in more ways than one. Thanks to all for your info. Daws
