Common sense suggests that a good deal should be recognized AS a good deal
The person who tries to wheedle a good deal into an even BETTER deal --on reflex-- is the person who inevitably won't take "no" for an answer. Just as a "good deal" is not enough because it CAN be better, one attempt at lowering the price is not enough because further attempts CAN be attempted. That's the typical psychology of those who chronically haggle-- dogged, shameless, boring persistence.

really?
come on guys. Why is everyone going back and forth over something that's so subjective?
This thread started off great and ended up petty.
As much as this forum is design-oriented, I haven't seen much about the white furniture in Tron (or maybe I missed it)
Look at that 670 671 in the background....SWEEEEEEEEET!

White
As I wrote in this other thread, "Those chairs have a weird 1970s look when they're upholstered in white leather":

podboy,
Thank you for your observation. I never want to be anything like that "mean spirited" Ark.

to Riki (USA/CH)
Basically just went to a place in Franklin Ma that does Classic furniture, called Classic Furniture Services. They said they have done about five eames 670's in the past. I am just having professional leather repair and having the veneer chips filled, but no re-upholstery, that would severely devalue the chair, and as a collector I really like the crunchy deep black on the old 670s. Not to mention that I really do believe that it is more comfy then the newer ones, I just sold my new one cause I needed the money. I could never part with it, but now that this one was found I didnt feel bad about letting the newer one go.
I was just sent a few pics, they replaced all the buttons and the refinish of the chair looks beautiful so far...
Ill be sure to post some soon!

Confused!
So im sure there are some experts out there that will know...
I am trying to get an accurate date for this chair and it is really hard to do after using this link: http://www.worthpoint.com/blog-entry/telling-age-vintage-or-newer
Here is there "aging system"
? SERIES 1 PRODUCTION: Silver circular clips, down cushions, boot glides to ottoman base, three (3) screws to armrests.
? SERIES 2 PRODUCTION: Silver circular clips, down cushions, adjustable/screw glides to ottoman, two (2) screws to armrests.
? SERIES 3 PRODUCTION: Long black clips, foam cushions, adjustable/screw glides to ottoman, two (2) screws to armrests.
? SERIES 4 PRODUCTION: Any lounge produced after 1990.
It all seems right but when does series two start? would that be after 1956/57? so series 2 would be 1958-1971? anyone know?
My chair has 100 Percent down feathers, has the circular logo, the big buttons (rare) and three screws in the arm rest... whats throwing it off is the fact that the glides are adjustable... doesn't make sense, its possible that he bought it as a series 1 and was having problems with the push on glides and Herman Miller offered a replacement base for the ottoman...I have heard that to be the case.
My final guess for the model is 1958-1960 cause after 1960 they did part down and part foam in all the cushions because Charles didnt like the look of the flattened bird.
Anyway tell me your thoughts, teach me your knowledge.
