So today on CL someone posted this under a general... for 100 bucks, I immediately offered 250$ cash and went and got it!!!
So I payed 250$ for this, I knew it was an authentic but I didnt realize that it was an original rosewood.
SO i am trying to figure out what year its from, its down filled and the one odd thing about it is that it has Big Buttons on the Seat Cushion and Ottoman, about double the size of the normal ones, and from looking around I havent seen many like that
also the logo that is still attached is the original Circle Herman MIller Logo that says Ray and charles Eames on it.
Does anyone have any Idea?! This is the best CL find ever I am so so excited. (:
edit: pictures fixed by DA
Does anyone know...
I noticed that the Seat and the ottoman have very large buttons, and the woman said nothing has ever been replaced that i got it from, What do the big buttons mean?
I feel like it would give it its age...somones got to know!
The buttons on the lower and upper back are normal though.
so here are its stats
1.the feet say domes od silence
2.Has Circular Logo with Ray and Charles Eames name
3.Has down feathers and very thick, almost crunchy leather
4.has larger buttons on bottom seat and ottoman
5.Is Rosewood veneer
6.the base metal isnt smooth like the newer models (70s and up)
Pegboard....
yes the clips are the circle clips, and the rubber where it is mounted on the headrest isn't the fake stuff, its real rubber...
this things a real classic Im pretty sure...besides the fact that its missing two buttons im pretty happy!
The leather on the chair is great but on the ottoman its a little beat, mainly just cracked, I was thinking maybe there is a way to possibly dye the cracking so you cant see the cracks? anyone have any input?
The chair itself isn't being touched, its perfect if you dont count a few chips, besides its not a real vintage endless its endured some hardships and the life of the everyday man/family.
Whatta steal!!
Just one shot available from what was posted(from the rear),but it certainly looks correct! That's gotta be one of the best CL scores to date! Are the shock mounts healthy?BTW,If the leather is hard and cracking,,you can nicely condition it with Pecards Red for vintage leather.Congrats and enjoy!
Tulip^
The shock-mounts are great! and the leather is all real good except the ottoman but I will find something to keep it nice, I think that ill have a person fix the two missing buttons and stain the chips darker so they are not noticeable, then it will be that piece no ones allowed on haha! I have a newer HM Eames Lounge that I use all the time, so I think ill just stare and admire the vintage one while the new one gets used as the everyday lounger.
thanks so much for your comments! Im pumped!
What a great find!
I guess that answers this old thread.
