They are from the 5os. I do not know anything else except that people call them "Jetson Chairs" from the cartoon series. I would like to know #1, What do I call them? I purchased them at an Auction back in the 90s. I am hoping that someone could guide me in the right direction also as to what I would need in materials and the best place to find them, as I would like to restore them myself. Any information would be great fully accepted.
please do not
attempt to restore yourself. Without a photo is is hard to guess at their
condition, if they are in fact Saarinen.
They should be powder coated.(see link below)
Many are listed on e-bay and should help you find a selling range based on
their condition. Finding a 1,000 dollar chair is a NEW chair. Not a chair in
need of repair. Using a 6 dollar can of spray paint should be disclosed to the
buyer BUT should not be used at all. A professional restoration is not a DIY
project. You could sell them as-is and let the buyer do the restoration.
Or have it done professionally and keep all costs and records for the buyer.
You will get a high offer and most likely get a better profit.
Also a high paying buyer will want an approved high quality seat.
not a cheap reproduction.
So actually nothing in restoring this chair is a home craft project.

this listing
is one example.
The seller is giving lots of information and has chosen not to
restore the finish. Most buyers will be using the set anyway and could
refinish down the line when needed. The seats are Knoll and new.
The price may be a bit high. No bid yet and no takers on BIN.
A nice set though.
Keep watching e-bay listings over a few weeks and you will see a variety
of conditions that affect pricing...

check for fakes
Bry, I have a set of Burke tulip side and armchairs from the same era that look good but are not real Saarinens. Do yours have a slight dip along the top of the chair? Burkes do not, they're straight across. Also, mine have an inset indentation on the bottom of the chairs where a label would have once resided. Also, the Burke knockoff armchairs have a "V" embossed in the fiberglass in the lumbar section of the chair. You can also tell if they are fakes by the way that they are attached to the base. I'm not an expert compared to the rest of the people on this website, but these are some of the glaringly obvious signs that contrast "real" from "knockoff" as far as tulip chairs are concerned.
Hope this helps.
Actually their are two and both with labels.
Thank you so much for your input. Man! I would love to have them restored. One, the paint is chipping around the bottom edge. Is their a listing somewhere where I could check out restoration? I have been checking out sales and prices in Ebay.. My best to ans all who have helped.
