The curve looks neither...
The curve looks neither geometrically precise or intuited.
Milling out the morticles in those brass feet was probabaly quite a tedious operation, perhaps they were cast? I wonder if the top ring was cut from sheet or made from 2 bent sections? Either way it wouldn't have been fun, all that metal would do nothing to deaden the sound of a cup or plate hitting the glass
( I detest glass topped tables )
It would be heavy enough to be impractical to move (indeed it would have to be moved twice, once for the glass, once for the frame)
I admire its longevity but I hate to see very durable materials used in a fashionable manner.
And last of all it lookes like a refugee from one of Saddams Palaces, I hope you havn't given it a home?
Re the saddam reference
Well it is french that might explain the saddam thing by a company famous for doing louis the umpteenth style.I have bought it yes but I still have yet to see it in person. It was designed for the Warldorf Astoria hotel.I agree with you though about the sound of glasses///cups on glass tops.
ah I can see it now, it...
ah I can see it now, it makes more sense now that youve given it context. I imagine it had flowers in a vase on it and sat in a corner.
It reminds me of English Pier tables that were meant to stand against walls between a row of windows, more part of the architecture than the meubles.
I'd call it a curiosity.
Is this noise sensitivity with glass topped tables a common thing? Anyone else have it?
