Any tips on what should be a must do/see for a 48 hr stopover in Amsterdam? Design-related or otherwise, thanks in advance for your tips!

2 days in Amsterdam?..
The first day you can spend wondering why anyone goes there at all because it is soooo dull. The second day you can pack all your clothes really slowly ready for your return trip. Sorry Amsterdam, maybe you are cool but i cant see it at all!. Go to London. The one thing i agree on is Droog, dont miss it.

How can a city...
were you can touch so much history ever be dull?
If I did not have to give up my shampoo bottle at the airport I would make the trans-atlantic flight just to visit again some of Aldo van Eyk's buildings Burgerweeshuis,(one of Frank Loyd Wright's favorite buildings) Hubertushuis and even Tripolis. Any concert at the Konsertgebouw will convince you that (with Vienna and Boston) there are no better acoustics in the world...or across the park walk into the Rietveld designed Van Gogh Museum, filled with hundreds of dull paintings...Do not limit yourself looking at the graduated pole that shows the official NAP (Nieuw Amsterdam's Peil, the standard by which the official ocean level 0 is measured because that's probably the only dull thing in this great city!

Darn, looks like only 1 spare day now, so I definitely need a plan to sort it out. I'm familiar with London, this is my 1st trip to Amsterdam and I'm looking fwd to the spare time I've got to spend there.
