Two weeks ago I purchased four of these chairs from an estate sale. I was very much taken by the proportion and original upholstery which was reminiscent of Paul McCobb's designs. Anyone has any clue of the origin of these chairs? Any help is very much appreciated.

Unfortunately they aren't a McCobb design. They are most likely manufactured by an American company and not designed by anyone of note. Still cool chairs though, enjoy them!

Thank you MCManiac for your feedback and I was under the same impression regarding these chairs - I was hoping maybe someone have owned these before and knew about their origin. Thanks again

Unfortunately? The only similarity to McCobb I see is that they are from the same era and fall under the broad "blonde" category
It looks like mainstream utilitarian department store moderne, like Sears or JCPenny etc.
It's not terrible, but it's low priced common stuff for regular people. Or rather, it was. Maybe cheap (or "cheap") at the time, that thing was made by American labor out of solid hardwood, and that's why it's still around and still useful. Today's equivalent would be made of illegally harvested compressed paper product formed in some sweatshop by Ikea or something
