Hello,I've got a pendant light that hangs low above my dining room table.when we have a party/BBQ we like to push the table to one side and shorten the height of the pendant by creating a loop in the cable and securing with a cable tie.  It does the job but looks a little scruffy!does anyone know of a retro fittable device that would do the job whilst looking less of a 'bodge'?appreciate it's probably an odd question for the forum but ideally I'm hoping that someone can point me in the direction of a classic mid-century device, designed for this very problem!its a nelson bubble lamp, supported by the electrical cable alone, so not too heavy.thanks in advance, and any advice greatfully receivedcheerstom

You could use a cord from a counterweight, pull down, or raise and fall pendant. You could also swag the pendant.

I would use a binder clip from the office. They are now sold in bright anodized colors.
Other ideas: a big wooden clothespin. A fat rawhide shoelace, tied in a bow or a big knot. Or one of those girls' hair ties with two plastic spheres that look like gumballs.

Why don't you just shorten the cord.  Or get a second shorter cord and install it instead?

Thanks for all the responses guys,
I think my ceilings are too low (and the pendant too big) to get away with a rise and fall type cord,  I really like the shoe lace idea and will definitely give it a go.
leif, It's only on rare occasions that I'll need to shorten the drop, I love the way the lamp looks hanging low to the table, and given my low ceilings my opportuniies for pendant lighting are heavily restricted!
