I really am dense.
I just realized this isn't a table. It is a drop leaf desk. Missing the drop leaf. And probably missing the drawers that would hang on the right.
The top slides, and it has channels cut in the rails for the passage of the hinges.
Underneath the table there are two felted stretchers, which I had assumed stored a missing leaf, but must be mounts for the missing drawers. (Not sure I fully understand how that works, but if the leaf hangs on the side, it can store underneath).
Oh, and the top is only 34 inches deep, which is shallow for a dining table, but right for a desk.
Probably nobody recognizes it as a desk, either, but...
Finally identified this: Illum Wikkelsø for Dammand and Rasmussen. There is a cabinet on the Danish Furniture Index with the same unique legs:
