Recently I bought an old Tapiovaara Pirkka stool. Unfortunately the former owner has repainted it. I?m planning to sand this stool and bring it back to his original colour, can anyone help me with tips, e.g. which stain (brand) and colour number I have to use. Thanks in advance, regards Joger

Can't help you with the color...
Can't help you with the color codes (if there ever were any), I'm afraid, but the color options for the original Pirkka-furniture (manufactured by Laukaan Puu) were clear lacquered pine (which tends to yellow with age), honey & dark brown, while the bases were always black. The tone seems to vary depending on the age & amount of patina..and yeah, for the right vibe I'd choose lacquer instead of poly..

Poly?
J.J., thanks so much for your info. I still have one question, what do you mean by 'poly ...'? Thanks for your response, Joger

I would think "Poly" signifies
Polyurethane.
