Today I found four Liqueur Glasses and four Shot Glasses from the Tapio Wirkkala 'Gaissa' series, which he designed for Iittala in 1973.
I left behind a decanter from the same line, since I didn't think I would have much use for it and it is also not nearly as nice as the glasses...
At home tonight I started to do a bit of research on the Gaissa line and realized that I couldn't find any info on the decanter anywhere. There is another more regular looking decanter in the Gaissa line which is still available from Iittala, but the one I saw was very different. The shape is basically like two cylinders on top of each other. The bottom one being low and wide, the top more narrow and tall. The base cylinder is about 20 cm in diameter and the narrower top is about 10 cm in diameter.
Does anyone have a clue what I'm talking about? I'm positive it is original, since it has the same sculptural form to the base and also still had the Iittala label intact.
Can't find any info anywhere...
