that faux barcelona chair pad clock is tacky. I am just waiting for the day when I walk into someone's house and see one of those on the wall. Who buys those kinds of things, do you think?

I don't know... A bad copy still has some reflection of the original, so it has some appeal--or maybe it doubly repulses because it hints at something beautiful made hideous.
I knew someone who loved that awful Queensryche song "Silent Lucidity". I told him to listen to "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.
These things are like Platonic shadows, diminished copies of the original form.
