I've made them from some reddish-brown
shoe-heel leather and glued them on with white glue. A bit of sandpaper to the bottoms once in a while cleans off accumulated grit and restores the sueded texture. I sharpened the end of a short piece of metal electrical conduit of the right diameter to cut multiples for a set of chairs. They've all stayed on for eight or nine tears now. Ask your local cobbler for scraps.
Edit: Eight or nine tears? I'm not even a Tebow fan!
That sounds
just right.
It really is necessary to make so many of the things that we want to be just so.
Before gluing to the bottom of a furniture leg, make sure it's clean of wax or other finish. When making chairs or tables, I've usually applied a generous coat of waterproof wood glue to the bottoms of their legs, to prevent them absorbing moisture from spills or other misuse -- especially when no other protection is to be provided.

Felt does wear out pretty quickly, though. I really like tktoo's suggestion to use circles of heavy leather. I just got a set of chairs to redo and they have half-destroyed felt casters. I have some thick leather that would work well and I think it'll be fun to experiment with tinting it to match the teak.
