Hi everyone, a question that I have tried to search for a while but no clear answer... I am very much interested in getting a vintage borge mogensen classic 3 seater sofa (mode 2213). I understand today Fredericia produces the whole collection but they are rather pricy, I am based in london and there are always very similar looking vintage pieces sofa made by stouby around, I am quite confused whether there's a story behind?
Stouby's version somehow is called eva with a length 2 meters whilst the original is 2.2ish, Stouby seems to be a decent sofa maker I am curious to find out if they had ever been given the license to produce such iconic design.
any information would be much appreciated...

Fredericia is and has always been the manufacturer of the Classic Mogensen sofa since it's design in 1963.
While the box sofa dates back further in danish furniture history there are many makers of similar sofa's to mogensen's.

All produce their own version / interpretations of the 2213 series albeit without the price tag.
The mogensen sofa is produced using THE VERY best leaters, feather, mahogany and skills while the other produce sofa using the best material availalble.
This is not to say they are in any way inferior to the mogensen they are not, but the slight difference will be in using beech legs stained to mahogany finish or part foam and feather fill cushions.
Mogensen new will set you back £7500 for 2213 while EVA from stouby will set you back £2900 - £3100 depending on finish.
I have the EVA currently in burgundy leather at £1549 and being only 3-5 years old while the 2213 rarely dips below £3500 - £4000 for a 25 year old version
