I am more shocked then you about that clock It was found at a thrift shop by my friend Paul and then Tim and charley picked it up, It has been painted and I personally think it is not that great at all,
I saw nothing wonderful about it, I personally feel who ever got it over paid big time for that one
but if that is how you want to spend your money go for it,
we have some old mid century swamp land in Florida any takers
I didn't bid that high for it
it wasn't my 1313.99. I was bidding on it, but was nowhere close to that ending bid!
I don't mind buying a clock that needs repainting, but if I did a paint jobn on a clock, I doubt I would sell it.
In actual fact, those metal disc clocks are quite rare and I like the look. I only wish I knew its Howard Miller catalog number.
Barry i have never seen...
Barry i have never seen that clock at any of the auctions or catalog's
I am very curious why there should be so few of this one , and if you or i or several others have no idea what it is worth,
there must be a higher being out there who knows about all Howard miller clocks.
Where is our forum buddy who has 100 clocks I would like to hear from him on this one.
It's an incomplete motion-notion clock
This clock is, I believe, actually model# 2274, one of the 5 or 6 Motion-Notion clocks. It came in both black or white. It is missing the cord or string that would have been strung back and forth from the 12 marker pegs. And more importantly it is missing the plastic disc that goes in the center. This disc had a spiral-graph like design on it and constituted the second hand, it spun around creating an op-art effect. This is what made the Motion-Notion clocks unique. They did away with the idea of the second hand as just a simple stick counting off the seconds in a minute. These spinning spiral-graph designs made the second hand more a part of the total design of the clock. All the Motion-Notion clocks had these spiraling designs in the center for second hands.
Gosh, how lucky I was not to win it
because unless you had the revolving second hand plate, you'd be screwed. It wouldn't be difficult to restring the hour markers.
Thanks a lot for reminding me about the disc. I HAVE seen this clock before in white.
The guy who overpaid for it must have had the missing disc.......
maybe we are the dumb one...
maybe we are the dumb ones if he has the parts that clock could be worth thousands,
It looks like all he got was the shell and has a lot of work to do, good luck to him and thanks to I Clock for the update.
I have never seen it before but i do know the three guys who found it at a junk store, and then put it on ebay, they manages to find the most unreal junk and turn it in to gold these are the boys that i bought my rare Harvey Probber sofa from.
Was I a bad boy?
I just "buy it now" this #2202 Starburst clock with the brass center, and it's electric with the cord coming out of the bottom of back.
I paid $349.00 for it, which seems high, but the Vitra has a white center and it's $360.00.
A deal? It looks in excellent condition.
By the way, where can I find second hands with a center hole and no glued-in pin?
barry you are unstoppable!...
barry you are unstoppable!!!!! you will own them all before it
is all over, and if someone was going to buy them all i am glad it is you
When the relatives come over for the Passover Sedar next Saturday, they will be real proud of how Barry has been spending his money, at least they can view your portfolio, and you can tell them that they are a long term investment,
The reason I wanted it
is because of all the variations, this is the way (I think) this particular clock should look...dark wood spikes and brass center. It makes it so elegant.
By the way, this is the 19" diameter smaller Starburst clock (2202)...someone is selling the giant Starburst on eBay (2230) which has a large 30" diameter! Problem is that clock has some broken off spoke tips and a couple of them are loose.
They are nearly impossible to fix, so I'll sticik with the small cute one.
By the way, I'm serious about wanting to find some red second hands that do not have the glued-in pin. I need some with open holes.
Is this a Nelson clock?
This is being sold on eBay, but it's listed as non-working.
It looks like it might be one of the weirder Nelson/Irving Harper clocks.
What'd'ya think?
