Hey guys, I am working on a feature story about staying in famous modernist buildings for a vacation. I don't want to include houses in this, as this has been done to death.
Anyway, I've come up with a couple where they let you stay for a few nights: The Bauhaus, unite d'habitation, La Tourette. Does anybody have any other suggestions? I was hoping there might be a holiday rental in a modernist skyscraper somewhere in the USA?

Radisson Blu Royal Hotel....
Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. Not in the USA but still an awesome modernist building. The building and everything inside the building right down to the silverware was designed by Arne Jacobsen. Only one if it's rooms has been kept in the original design, though.

Also, would rather it not be...
Also, would rather it not be hotels per se, but apartments etc, that not many folks know about.

What
is the preoccupation certain forum members have here about the (supposed) wealth of other posters?
Jealousy?
We're here because we have a common interest, lighten up!
I enjoy Mark's posts and never feel he is boastful or trite.
Besides, it's a thread about staying in fabulous modernist buildings, what were you hoping for, a load of people saying they can't afford to?

Not at all Robert
but I do appreciate your attempt at deciphering my comment. Was not made to hurt ones feeling but instead made in jest.
Mark, no offence intended....your apparent affluence is at times received by me (notice I say BY ME) as a bit oppressive...however let me quickly add that your comments are totally engaging and entertaining, a pleasure to read.

Thank you both for your kind words.
I prefer not to make my financial situation a spectator sport, and would like to get the thread back on track.
Drinks are on me!

Job title???MARK
Mark
I would like to know what you do for a living, if that's okay to ask? It might inspire me to follow suit! (unless you are a merchant banker or something equally boring).

this job title
Mark,
It is always good to see another draw attention.
I have always embraced the phrase, "a person of means". It sounds so much better than "you have a lot of money".
As for the job title I would be impressed with "persuader". It has such a nice ring to it and sounds rewarding in a special way.
It is more enjoyable to be eccentric with means than crazy and poor.

Melbourne, Australia
I was lucky enough to spend a weekend at this Deco delight Burnham Beeches in the mountains before it closed in '93. It has recently be sold and has plans to reopen soon.
