no more info!
No more info at the moment, I'm researching South african MCM design, there is very little info available at the moment, only a few mentions in the 1950s decorative art annuals, will keep the forum informed when any new info presents itself!

From the time period you can...
From the time period you can hazard a guess that the only arses that would have sat on this stuff would have been white and against democratisation, reform and racial equality.

I don't mean to be crass,...
I don't mean to be crass, but could you argue against that point though? Who would have been sitting on Danish-inspired furniture in S.A. in during the middle part of the last century?
I don't think it should necessarily detract from the aesthetic qualities, although some people would argue against that. Can an object be separated from its socio-political context?

I really shouldn't have...
I really shouldn't have given you an easy way out there, Rob. In any case... I don't think you can tell me that my point isn't true

I Disagree
it's akin to saying a G Plan sideboard is tainted by the Miner's Strike or an Ercol nest of tables by the troubles in Northern Ireland.

Quite
In my opinion, unless furniture was expressly produced to profit or fund a political cause I would think it safe to seem it apolitical.

I'm throwing out all of my mid century American designed pieces as they are spoiled by the taint of America's racial segregation policies.

My history is not great but I think you will find Robert that is was indeed an Ercol nest of tables that started the troubles in Ireland.
