On the blog, there is a story about solar powered bus stop signage. Perhaps Spain's buses are ridiculously more complicated than buses in San Francisco, CA, where I just visited, but I did not want for solar powered signage when in San Francisco, even once. Even in cities where I am utterly new, a map, or asking a local, works quite well for the first day, and is a much less energy intensive way of dealing with the problem of when is a bus coming.
I believe encouraging local citizens to talk to each other and to tourists in some Public Service Announcements would be an extremely energy efficient, and cost effective solution to the problem, and it would not clutter up beautiful cities with a lot of high tech, hard to maintain, hard to dispose of, road side structures.
