I will be replacing this sofa with another and need some opinions on material choice.
I have had several examples of kvadrat sent and have narrowed it down to two examples: Hallingdal 590 and Tonus 125.
I prefer the Hollingdal material wise but like the color of the Tonus. I know that the Hollingdal is more wear resistant and that the Tonus seems to be used in curved (egg chair) type application due to its stretching ability.
Do you think that using the Tonus would be a mistake on this type of sofa? Is the difference in wear that noticeable? No dogs, no kids, no jeans...light use sofa.
I've attached images below of the current sofa (L shape Nelson Modular), the sofa that will be replacing it ( circular with bench) and the two fabrics in question.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
OK...still working on loading pics...stay tuned.

As someone who does a lot of
upholstery, I'd pass on the Tonus. The reason is that it's hard to sew regular seams with a stretch fabric without it stretching a little bit here and there, and then the seams end up rippled. It's great for curvy pieces where the fabric is stretched and stapled to the frame. Not so much for box cushions with welt.
That's not to say that it can't be done, but you will need a skilled upholsterer with experience in doing that kind of thing.
Have you seen Kvadrat's Steelcut? It's a smooth wool that is tightly woven and it has a higher wear rating than a lot of other wools. It's a contract fabric but I think it works well with furniture in the home. The Steelcut Trio line is especially nice---each fabric has a dominant thread color but with two other colors too, giving it more depth than the regular Steelcut.

Oh wait
Your main question is whether Tonus will is ok as far as the wear rating. I would say yes for light upholstery. It's 50,000, which should be fine for your purposes.
I would just make it very clear to your upholsterer that there can't be any ripples in the seams.

Steelcut
Thanks spanky...I have seen the Steelcut but my wife doesn't like it.
I am worried about the wearability and it's good to know it won't be an issue and that it shouldnt enter into the decision.
I guess now its a matter of whats more inportant to me, the texture I prefer or the color I prefer as I'm pretty confident in the upholsterer.
