I have a pair of these black upholstered and exposed arm / open arm lounge chairs. They are not marked anywhere that I have seen, but they look very familiar. I have searched under many keywords and a number of different places of origin and cant quite seem to identify them. The curved leg in the back may be the key for me. I am sure I will kick myself once someone names them but as of now I have no idea! Please lend me an eye!
konfrank, here's a link to a pair of chairs that look remarkably similar to the pair that you have. They appear to be in almost the same condition as yours, and by coincidence, are photographed in the same angles. Perhaps you can contact the auction house to see if there are any labels on their chairs. Then you can check on your chairs to see if there are any remnants of labels in a similar location.
With any luck, you'll be able to successfully ID your chairs eventually.

I would be curious to see more photos. Perhaps the joinery, wood, underside, upholstery...
Or do you not own them and are planning on bidding on them?
I don't think anyone is going to just tell you who Mae or designed these chairs. I think they are much less common than that, and they will probably take a lot of work to identify.
leif, konfrank's fairly unoriginal strategy is to post photos of auctions that he (she?) is interested in bidding on, but doesn't want to give others a head-up to a possible good deal (good luck finding one on Liveauctioneers). Therefore the premise that the pieces are already in his possession is first given in the initial post.
The fact that he has done this subterfuge in two out of his three threads here, rather than simply asking for information, provides an indication as to his character. Since all three lots are from Clarke Auctions, I am assuming he lives near Larchmont, New York.

cdsilva,
I am sorry to disappoint you but you are wrong. I am the current and former possessor of all pieces in each post that have indeed been sold, or are to be sold at the aforementioned auction house.
In accordance with community guidelines, I did not alert the greater community to the listings as it may be viewed as direct or indirect advertising, given my connection with the pieces listed.
I have the right to ask about the identity and information of pieces for my own edification and I would prefer if you left your opinions of my character out of the conversation as they are obviously foreshortened by your own invalid assumptions.
Best,
konfrank
I am usually of the philosophy that the open market will decide the true value of a piece at auction, even if I personally could not identify it, especially since I agree with you that there are no "deals" to be found at auction these days, not if the items are any good at least. It isn't good for buying but it can work out on the selling side.
That being said, I always perform, and enjoy, exhaustive research of my own before attempting to reaching out here. And I have done so "post-listing" at auction on this occasion for my own learning, and if it helps in time to give the ID to the house then so be it, if not I am fine about it too.
cd - I appreciate your apology and I respect your track record on the forums here, including your help with previous posts of mine. I hope to show the extent of my character, rather than claim it alone, with continued involvement in postings to come.
