Interesting thread. I see the chair did not (or has not) meet (met) reserve first time out of the gate. Yet, anyway. That said, Caveat Emptor, and all that jazz.

If only there was some way...
If only there was some way to contact the buyer. They would have a straight-forward case for fraud, no? And they would get costs + damages? I'm not really familiar with American law, but this is what I see in the movies.
If that cannot happen, we'll just have to hope for the law of karma to kick in.
One other thought: the new owner of this chair will sell this chair on at some future date. And at that point the provenance will be lost and there will be a bodged Evans chair fooling all but the most fastidious anoraks. Pitty.
