Hello-
Just wanted to get some opinions about a piece, there are images if you click the link under the post. (safe for work I promise).
It is a large sculptural wall lamp from 1969.
I have yet to find a signature but I haven't looked everywhere since I don't have a glass table to set it on to check the bottom or the mushrooms (where C.Jere usually was signed) around that area.
To me it looks like a Silas Seandel, but it was purchased in Van Nuys in 1969 , and with artisan house right down the street in Burbank (I think), it would be easy to jump to the Jere conclusion.
It is custom, and I'm not sure if Artisan House did custom work for people like Seandel did.
The pictures in the link are crappy but you get an idea. in person it is a very stunning piece and basically commands the room (it dwarfs that ladies entire arm in pic #3)
The woman who ran the estate sale said she was 90% sure it was Jere and said she had a mid-century dealer/appraiser look at it who said the same and helped set the price for the sale. I'm not convinced.
If anyone wants to weigh in I would greatly appreciate it.
thanks
Matt
