People are always asking how to ship and how much it costs to get an Eames lounge chair and ottoman from the US to other places. I've just done it, so I thought I'd pass on my info.
The US postal service has rules regarding length/girth/width so I had to get creative. I bought two shipping boxes that were 24 x 24 x 24, which, if left alone, would have been too big to ship.
Into the first box, I put the back rest/seat/armrest piece that is all attached with the shockmounts. I cut the box in such a way as to make a trapezoid to get rid of all of the unused air space. This box cost 138 USD to ship to CH, including insurance. It weighed 33 lbs.
Into the second box, I put both metal bases from the chair and the ottoman and again cut down the height of the box to get rid of dead space. This box cost 105 USD and weighed 22 lbs.
The ottoman shell, the head rest, one of the down cushions and armchair pads all went into an extra suitcase to go back as checked baggage, but I could have mailed this in another box if necessary. Total cost of shipping: 243 USD.
