I really like the blog... But...
I really like the blog... But everything in that entry reminds me of the insipid penis statue in A Clockwork Orange. Simply making a chair or lamp resemble something sexual doesn't automatically make it interesting.
But otherwise I really like the blog. 🙂

Sex & Product design?
Wouldn't that possibily describe Charles and Ray Eames?
Hans and Florence Knoll?
Alvar and Aino Aalto?

Sex and product design go together...
because design goes with everything.
Take dildoes for example.
Where would so many persons be without the continual improvement of dildoes?
There are latex dildoes, glass dildoes, hard plastic dildoes, and I suspect if I were to look I would find roto molded dildoes and carbon fiber ones as well.
There are dildoes for vaginal entry and dildoes for anal entry (yes, and there are plugs, too). There are dildoes for women to use on themselves and dildoes for men to use on women and dildoes for men to use on men and dildoes for women to use on women and dildoes for women to use on women.
There are hand held dildoes and strap on dildoes and double ended dildoes.
There are thick ones, thin ones, long ones and short ones. There are dildoes, so big no one should use them and dildoes so small one has to be careful to keep them from disappearing.

continued...
There are flesh-toned dildoes and white dildos and black dildoes, as well as dildoes of every color of the rainbow.
There are dildoes with ridges and dildoes without. There are dildoes that are utterly realistic and dildoes that are utterly abstract.
There are dildoes with rabbits on them and dildoes without, dildoes with glans, and dildoes with perfect domes.
There are dildoes that go in deep and dildoes that bend around and touch G-spots. There are dildoes that massage prostates and dildoes that tickle in French.
There are dildoes that vibrate and dildoes that attach to vibrators and dildoes that are utterly static.
There are dildoes dominants and dildoes for submissives and dildoes for those who cannot decide.
There are dildoes intended to sell on word of mouth, and dildoes designed to stand out on a shelf, and dildoes designed to scream buy me on a web page or else.
And here's the thing: everyone of these dildoes has been designed by a designer, or a would-be designer, who thought a wrinkle here, or a texture there, or a splash of color or moisture, or something else, could bring some other human just a little more pleasure and a little more desire to spend their money on the state of the art for passion and fire.
Of course sex goes with product design. Oh, yes! It goes very well indeed.

well I think God makes the be...
well I think God makes the best ones, though perhaps they are not quite as reliable.
I've wondered about this before, when is something sexy but not beautiful or handsome, what makes a design 'cool' . The images on that link are about as intersting as commercial pornography... literal, obvious and ultimately boring. Whats interesting is how so many objects are described as sexy without a hint of an orifice. Whats the phsychology behind a ferrari being sexy?
Sexy and cool are words that I think denote designs that are usually just too fleeting for my tastes. I'll take handsome, in any context.

Very relevant
And well worth discussing. Sex, like death, is a universal subject. And a discussion of sex and design will cross over with other topics like fashion, product design, and furniture.

Lowering temperature with anecdotes and beer
Anecdotes
I jumped from the Pepsi/ads thread. I was afraid to be banned there 🙂
I begin with an ad to lower the temparature...
Anecdotes
Anecdotas
ps:
The more times someone watchs an ad, the more can learn.
When watched at TV, didn't realize:
1) the unknown guy at restroom was later the ex of his own present girl-friend.
2) I still try to understand what other uses a watermelon could have....

Am I the only person who notices that...
the glans is backwards on the Clockwork Orange settee? 🙂
