Ok, Ok I know it's a bit early- but these are fun 😉
Yeah, they're nice and...
Yeah, they're nice and evocative of Japanese woodblock prints. I'm pretty convinced that we owe much credit to the Japanese for Modernism. While not necessarly directly, but most certainly highly influentual to "Western" modernist developments. Thats my take at least.
et in terra pax hominibus, bonae voluntatis
If at no other time the ritual of "Peace on earth, good will toward men" is recognized then I welcome the Christmas holiday. Attemting to find the good in everything seems to be vastly better than concentrating on the negative and dreading any day.
I have no problem with the good-will-towards-all-men jazz,
--but, to be honest, one either embraces this philosophy or not, regardless of what month it is.
What bugs me are the tiresome sights & sounds of this month-long holiday. Like an endless Hanna-Barbera Productions looped-background: snowmen/ Santa/ holly/ silver bells/ wreaths/ trees/ gifts/ reindeer/ candy canes... from mid-November 'til January 2!
(Don't even get me started on the insufferable music one's forced to listen to-- hearing Mariah Carey's rendition of 'Oh Holy Night' almost makes me nostalgic for Dolly Parton & Rod Stewart's Christmas classic, 'Baby, it's Cold Outside". And vice versa.)
