Does anybody here have experience with Sam Maloof's custom made wood furniture?

I picked up a copy of the book, "The Furniture of Sam Maloof" and I guess he was like Kagan, Powell and Nakashima, i.e.brilliant independent designers who went their own way without a lot of corporate furniture makers involvement.

His stuff is beautiful and points out that there WAS beautiful, high styled furniture from California that didn't scream of "Hollywood Regency" or the tacky Flamingo crowd.

Whad'ya'all think?

(below is a link to some of his stuff)

Wow...very interesting
But I never dreamt that there was a "WoodWorkingChannel"!
It's a great idea, but shouldn't there also be:
"The Fibreglass Chair Channel"
"The Table Lamp Channel"
"The Chaise Lounge Channel"
My My o My.

Sam Maloof
My first experience seeing one of his pieces was at the modern show in Palm Springs years ago. It was a rocker with an attached bassinet. I was standing there marveling at it's beauty when the vendor stated "go ahead sit on it". I was scared as it appeared fragile but, was the most sturdy, comfortable, beautiful and well balanced piece of furniture that I've ever had the pleasure of sitting on.
I also had the pleasure of touring his house in Alta Loma (Rancho Cucamunga).
He's truly a living legend and an American Master.
