I've been to Columbus, Indiana
It's an amazing town with some phenomenal architecture. My only disappointment was that there was not as many modern residential homes compared to public buildings. Still, well worth the visit.
It was several years ago, so I could not see the Miller house. Guess I have to go back now, but that's OK. I have a friend who was there just recently and said it was remarkable.
I've always loved the Miller...
I've always loved the Miller house. Saarinen house with Girard interior.....hard to imagine a better combo. As for Columbus Indiana, I've never been, but there is undoubtedly some amazing architecture to be found there. A year or so ago, I picked up a copy of the book below (Cover by Paul Rand). Great images and info about Columbus' modern architecture. As pegboard points out, a lot of it is commercial buildings, schools, churches, etc. Impressive, though, nonetheless.
I had the privilege to go...
I had the privilege to go through the home with a small group last year. It was stunning. The element that got me was all of the custom work by Alexander Girard. A good portion of the Herman miller pieces were done in brass. There was a supposed whom chair with all brass legs, but it was not present. They wouldn't let us take any pictures because they were promised to the NY Times.

MILLER HOUSE TO OPEN FOR TOURS 5-10-11
You can be among the first to tour the Miller House and Garden, a collaboration between Eero Saarinen, Alexander Girard and Dan Kiley. The clients were J. Irwin and Xenia Miller. The house was a family home, where five children were raised. It was also the house that allowed the Millers to entertain clients as they worked together to build Cummins Engine Co. into a global powerhouse.
The Indianapolis Museum of Art, owners of the home, are hosting a day-long symposium on the property May 20.
Tours of this unique home begin May 10, 2011 and will launch from the Columbus Visitors Center.
