So, I have this Saarinen tulip that I've been trying to get separated from the base. The knucklehead I bought it from poured lots of gooey glue in it in an attempt to repair a break in the fiberglass in the seat. Now, I think I've got the glue just about separated, but I still can't get this seat apart.
My question: are those 6 T bolts removable? Are they holding the chair seat onto the base? I didn't think they did except I just saw one of these on eBay with the bolts missing. The base clearly has 6 spots where these screws go in.
If so, how do I remove these t-bolts?

STOP
Do not touch those "T" bolts, that's not how this chair comes apart. There is a single, small retaining ring at the bottom of the chair that locks the end of the spindle into the base.
Remove the ring (a special tool prys the tiny holes apart to remove it, but you can jimmy it) and the whole seat and spindle lifts off the metal base. Then the spindle unscrews from the black metal disc under the seat cushion, they come apart and off the fiberglass shell. At least that's how a knoll circa 1965 tulip chair comes apart.
Thanks. That's what I...
Thanks. That's what I thought.
And since the numbskull I bought the chair from saw it fit to dump about a quart of liquid nails onto the base of the seat, it will not come off, even after removing that ring. I was hoping there was a chance that something other than adhesive was keeping the two halves from coming apart. Apparently not.
