So I guess the question is,...
So I guess the question is, does one spend full on retail ( it is not cheap for sure, but i was paying for rarity of condition) on what appears to be a extremely clean example of a very rare table with an obvious added on label from a seller agreeing to allow a return?
This is a hard one for me simply because if it is legit other than the label, I may not see another in this shape...but like I said something about the black paint finish throws me...
Sorry to beat this dead horse, but any suggestions before I make up my mind would be much appreciated.
I learned my mistake earlier one with refinished pieces with Industrialarts purchases, (who apparently is now back to selling many perfect examples again on ebay)
so I don;t want to be foolish again, but this one is a bit less cut and dry.
when in doubt
Pegboard's comments echo my feelings from 30 years of collecting Eames junk. I've only seen one IT with a rectangular foil label, which I bought. The label on my table looked like it had been removed and reapplied which leads me to believe that I have never seen a IT table with a label. They probably exist, although I have never seen one on the 12-15 Incidental Tables that I've come across.
I also own a few older HM tables with matt black finishes on the underside that haven't turned smooth or satin over the decades. Why would anyone clean the underside of a table?
This table appears too clean... perhaps Industrialarts (or whatever Ebay name he goes by this week) owned it at one time?

Actually speaking of Fred (Industrialarts)
It is nice to see he is re listing things and lowering prices on his "mint" items. Seems like after my negative feedback and warning his former buyers through his feedback list, he is not selling to so many unsuspecting people now. A minty 49 LCW for a BIN of 900 and not moving...was 1000 yesterday.
