In the 80s i was given a round/sphere plastic floor lamp,it was around 16 - 18 inches diameter and finished in white. To change the bulb i had to get someone to unscrew two screws on a round metal plate,it also had the obligatory curly electrical cable.I no longer have it as i left it in a house i sold but i wonder do any of you lamp fettishista know what the hell im describing?.

By the way..
I say "Get someone" not because im lazy or frightened of spilling my drink but it took two people as the other bit would have fallen inside if just one person attempted to change the bulb.

Like this one?
Hello Vivienne,
I am thinking of the Mazda lamp designed in the seventies (see link below). This example is yellow but we also had a white one. One could move it just by kicking into it.
