Hi all,
I'm a bit stuck on this sideboard. The seller told me it was an Archie Shine piece, but i'm not convinced as many of the details don't look right. Does anyone else have any leads?
Dan

I don't know who made it,
but I quite like it!
are you convinced it's british?
handles and leg construction look danish to me.

Thanks, BJ
I think it's Scandinavian too. I don't think the seller knew what it was and simply guessed.
The grain is beautiful

Do you mind
...if I ask you where you bought this?
Think I saw something very very similar sell in a local auction house, and I was really struggling for an ID too.

I bought a table off a private seller
I just happened to ask if he had anything else and he said yes, this.
He said it was his from new and that it was made by Archie Shine. I think he might be a dealer but didn't wat to admit it.

By any chance...
Is there a small chip on the left hand side of the top surface?
If yes, I can sort out the origination issue for you!

It might well be the same one
The chip might have been on the other side.
It wasn't mine, but I was following the auction hoping for a bargain.

The patternation differs on mine though.

Good luck with the ID!

Looks like it might actually be an Archie Shine piece
I must have missed this on the first search:

Rosewood Sideboard
I read with interest Dan's post on the Archie Shine sideboard. The conversation may not still be active, but if it is - I have one of these and would be interested in talking further about its origin. I can post an image.
Let me know

Hi Hansen,
Still have not been able to identify it. I saw a teak one recently on eBay, but again there was no attribution. I'll find out one day, it might just take a while!
