Is there any way to differentiate a Rosendahl production monkey to an original vintage one? I found a monkey at the swap meet and it is marked Kay Bojesen Denmark Copyright on the left foot. Any way to tell if it is new? I wanted to know cause I noticed that they are still in production, thanks.
Well yes...
but have they been in constant production? I noticed the Rosendahl Dog says Kay Bojesen Design Copyright. I only ask this because I see monkeys listed regularly that sell for over 200 dollars which is what they sell for new I believe. The ones I saw sell for over that fetched prices close to 300 dollars. They were listed as vintage but seemed to be in new condition except for snapped rubber bands. Just wondering if there was a way to differentiate.
there is a
danish collector of all things kay bojesen so it may be worth asking him.
i have an early version of the rocking horse that i need some info on in terms of when the seat changed shape?

Well..
Rosendahl replied that they have not changed anything about the monkey including the stamp on the foot. I guess the only way to know if your monkey is truly vintage is to get one that obviously shows age or has a date stamp on the bottom, I have also seen some that have copyright on one foot and Kay Bojesen Denmark on the other. I guess otherwise it is a good idea to just buy a new one over a "vintage" one that looks like it was never used, because it is most likely just a new model being sold as vintage.
