Yes, an odd response.
Any expense, especially a few grand, is worthy of research.
I don't think this one would last more than few years in my home.(photo below)
Strange to dismiss a company that seems to give a shit about what they sell.
They also represent HM.
I would like to see details about the construction but it is not chipboard
from china.
Hi Whitespike:
I found a blog (Jenn Ski) she has a few photo's of different R&B couches. She purchased a R&B couch about a year ago and you can see it on her blog.

"what I need is the questions I have asked answered..... "
okay, no problem....
Q = "Anyone own a sofa from Room and Board? "
A = No.
Q = "Thoughts?"
A = since when does a sofa from room and board deserve attention from a modernist design community board ?
Q = "Opinions?"
A = generic, watered down diluted, derivative, economy scale, border-line knock-offs.
questions answered. sorry you don't like the answers.
and by the way, it not appropriate to tell other members of the community to not post and claim 'ownership' of a thread just because they have an opinion or values that you don't care for.

Hey chewy,
I don't mind that you don't like it at all. I do mind that your snobbish way of putting things. Maybe you should spend some of the time you spend looking at dwr.com and learn a few manners.
This is my thread because I created it to have my question answered. Your answers are just fine. I just really get tired of the snobbery some people put behind their design preferences, or what they can or cannot afford.
"all under 5k and all can be afforded by a person making around 50k a year. it seems alot of people do not make furniture a priority and always try to buy the cheapest crap they can find."
Since I am not looking for sofas that are simply "under 5K," because I am not looking for the "cheapest crap I can find," and because I don't make 50K a year your posting has nothing to do with me, and everything to do with your need to answer with snobbery and rudeness. Believe me, boy, I know my design just as well as you, and I happen to be a designer myself. What you think I need is not what I am looking for.
"since when does a sofa from room and board deserve attention from a modernist design community board ?"
This is pure snobbery and is put the most blunt, rude way possible. It's not your opinion I don't like ... it's you.
noted.
sorry, i didn't mean to be inflammatory or offensive.
thanks for the feed-back.
love,

UPDATE -
you must really be worked up whitespike because you keep editing your last comment and getting more rude and aggressive each time.
you will see that i made the post above in an effort to be civil and kind, but clearly you do not deserve neither kindness nor civility as evident by your last comment:
" It's not your opinion I don't like ... it's you."
maybe you should go outside and walk in the grass and reconsider being so nasty.
resulting to personal attacks and insults is definitely not appropriate.

Hey, chewy...
So I'm guessing your living room consists of a Noguchi Freeform sofa, Wegner Flag Halyard chair, Mies Barcelona chairs and daybed all surrounding a Noguchi fin table against a tapestry of Prouve case goods and wall storage(all vintage, of course)...
If not, shut up. Oh and if by some off chance it is indeed so, shut up anyway.
actually.....
the pfister stuff can look pretty cool given the right fabric or leather selection and color...... combined with a particular setting it can be quite nice.
its a nice quality piece and has a very square profile.... but i realize its not for everyone and its hard to get people to agree on where to eat break-fast let alone deciding on a sofa.
peace.
OK
I must'a misread the thread.
What sofa have you decided on?
By the way, there was a piece on The Early Show on CBS this morning about Chinese-made drywall smelling horrible with a high level of sulfur in its manufactor, and that not only does it stink up the house, but it corrodes the copper pipes!!!
So, in light of that, I would certainly keep very clear of any upholstered furniture made in China, where the standards are low low low low.
That means...no Florence Knoll knockoff sofa for you, my fine friend.
