Like the look
Like the look of the sofa - not so crazy about the sectional. It looks a little like those LeCorbusier Sectionals you see: classic design "updated".
If you get the slip-covered version it looks like you might be doing some DIY velcro attachments along the bottom to hold it tighter. But I would assume that Baby means you'll need a removable cover.
Quality should be pretty good, but I would definitely call and check frame construction/spring system/warranty etc. I'm always suspicious when those things aren't listed standard.
good service
My daughter got two bed frames and some chairs from R&B and was really pleased with their service. They sent a replacement for one of the chairs at no charge when there was a problem with it. Their delivery was on time, nice people came in and set the beds up and left. Good phone service, too.
I wouldn't buy a sofa without sitting on it first, but other than that, I'd buy from them.
That is impressive.
I just looked through their website. They show a map on the page
where an item is made. Vermont, Virginia, etc.
I did not know that.
(I also like the Reese sofa)

We had a very pleasant experience with them...
we just bought three pieces from their Lowry line (think Nelson-ey lines without being a direct THEFT like Daniel Donnelley). They were VERY helpful on the phone, even so much that the salesperson told us the items we were interested in were getting ready to go on clearance and to call back in a few days. Shipping guys were very courteous and unpacked everything, moved it into the house and placed it where we wanted it, packed up the packing material and "left no trace". Quality is definitely commensurate with the middle-of-the-road cost. Overall we're very happy with what we bought.
2¢
I just tore open my sofa last night.
A blade slice down the side. Ouch.
I'm taking in photos to a local shop to see if they can re-build.
I've hesitated for two years, and considered replacing it, but it was
custom made and has lasted 50yrs. If it is too costly i'll stop by
Room and Board for another option and let you know about the quality.

Thanks, Rockland. I hope you do. Fortunately, this isn't a purchase I am making right away (sometime after the house is built in August/September), but I definitely wanted to start fishing for opinions early so there isn't too much time wasted looking later.
If you go, please let me know about the quality/comfort level. Thanks!

..... all under 5k and all can be afforded by a person making around 50k a year. it seems alot of people do not make furniture a priority and always try to buy the cheapest crap they can find. meanwhile they have no qualms about spending $200 on a pair of shoes or 5k for a vacation. spend more on a sofa that will last the rest of your life and make more of a commitment or at least an equal commitment to what is spent on dining out, alcohol, shoes, clothes cars etc..... pay partial cash and use a credit card for the rest. you will be money ahead by buying a quality sofa that will last 30 years + than half as much on a cheapo that will last 5 years.
Chewbaca. I posted this...
Chewbaca. I posted this asking about a sofa. A sofa that is modern in design. I do not like everything they have to offer, but what you call "bland" is sort of what I am looking for ... a nicely scaled simple sofa.
You are not so original in your thinking, I get it. Spend a shitload to keep forever. But, in this instance, functionally I want a nice looking sofa, mid priced, as I do not plan to keep it forever. I plan on having it until my baby is old enough to know better.
At this point in my life I actually do have more important things to spend my money on. Like the modern house I am building and the family I am starting.
I have paid my dues with several high dollar modern classics, so I really don't need your snobbish remarks, what I need is the questions I have asked answered ... like several of you have done. It doesn't have to be a platform for your little design ethics. It's my thread and my question. So want to start a debate, make your own thread. Adios!
