I think this name is familiar to DAers .. Frank Bros sold mid-century furniture in Long Beach, CA - it no longer exists, but it was important enough that the catalogs etc are at the Getty Institute.

I've offered the Getty a copy of a little catalog I have, for a 1953 exhibit at the Akron Art Institute called Young Designers 1953 (my father was in it, for New Dimensions Furniture) - got no response. I should probably start a thread here, looking for suggestions ... it's a minor bit of design history, but still ...
kate kaplan,.
Can you post an image or scan of your catalog? Some design school libraries like SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, CA or the Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA) library might be interested in including something like your catalog for research reference material if you donate it.
I think the Getty might be too big for one catalog (or do you have an archive of your father's work that you want to donate?). The Getty if I remember correctly did archive the work of John Lautner a few years back.
Minimoma, thanks for the suggestions - I'm in LA, I must know someone who knows someone at Sci-Arc ...
I posted all the product sheets and the catalog of Designed for Moderns aka New Dimensions Furniture on this site, which is the best source of info on that business. (Thanks, DA.) If the Getty's not interested in the Akron catalog, which includes much better known designers, I doubt they'd be interested in Designed for Moderns.
ok, I'll put up the new thread now ...
