I am looking to purchase a reproduction Eames Lounge chair and ottoman in vinyl and was wondering why they have caster wheels (4) instead of the
regular base one sees on all of the other comparable pieces like Sibast and Charlton. It would help me tremendously to know which manufacturer did use castered wheels or if possibly they were added later. Thanks so much in advance if anyone could help enlighten me. I have searched for several hours on the internet tonight and have not seen these on any Eames copies. I wanted to do my homework before considering purchasing. ; )
Vintage chair
The seller says it is definitely a vintage chair because she purchased it from a family friend who had it "forever". Anybody else have knowledge of Eames knockoffs with catered wheels? Sorry that I am unable to show an image of it, but it looks like a Plycraft model with rolling casters.
thanks so much!!!!!
They may have been added later.
The glides on the Eames-style Plycraft chairs (which by the way aren't usually referred to as reproductions of Eames chairs) are threaded so maybe there are casters with those size threaded posts.
I googled "plycraft casters" and found this DA thread with a Mulhauser chair with casters:

Charlton lounge chair and ottoman
Well I bought the chair and ottoman and you were correct that the owners just replaced the glides with Shepherd casters so I will put new glides on them.
Both pieces are needing some TLC so I will lovingly oil, scrape, etc. to bring them back to life. It is just incredible to me how people abuse their furniture!
Thanks so very much for you help with this. The casters really threw me off on this deal.
