Thank You!
to Patrick & Alix for kindly posting about my book on the blog and forum.
To Jesgord, Woodywood, and Mark for their very welcome support, and to spaecepirate1 for bumping the thread to bring it to everybody's attention.
Much appreciated!
It's been a real honour and pleasure to work with one of the world's finest publishers of art & design books.
With the freshness of Fashion Resource...
With the freshness of Fashion Resource,
Leach revive the professionality that this forum deserve.
Finally The First Manifesto Is Presented At DA!
It's important to have it here, and happy that P&A did it on the forum too, as on the blog, at least for two reasons: first, bydon the funny threads and IDs, this is the content and sharing that I think is good to the fora.
And second, It's also nice we can follow the process: as I recall first some of Robert comments and ideas, many ideas. Later then, when he had the the cds ready to go to the editor. And soon the launch. So it's very fine we can in the end, see and share, the final product in this place.
On the book, I like the design in general, the text, the information, the ideas, the coordination. Everything is great. Very professional, but fresh at the same time, nice to read. Nice to see how contemporary the book and Robert are. Extremely dynamic. And more important is that seems to be very accurate and useful for students, as well non students.
Now, In my personal case, his "inspiration" intertest made me think and recognise some on my side too. So, now the book it's ended, I don't know if I have to think that the idea is "closed" Or if it's just the beginning?
In the blog he said that when he used DA in the very beginning was important . Perhaps it's in part true, but this also show how he managed well on these "contemporary times" With these "contemporary tools" very difficult and he do it well and fast. And second also show his generosity again.
Provably I'm almost as excited as Mark, because I see the book as:
"Just a key to open the right side of the brain"
For design learning-teaching for the first years. As a former Design teacher, and my wife still being for many years now, I have no doubt think this is the way to teach design in the first years.
It's seem to be like a basic, fundamental tool.
Finally, the strong and personal ideas on "inspiration", that I see clear are very of his own, it's an important value, that supports the book and make it as the basement, as the structure.
Any way I can see this, just from the preview on Facebook and the quite interesting interview on DABlog. Now I have to order the book (probably from Amazon.com, instead of .uk -Thanks Mark for let us know!). Now, Robert, if you or somebody could this read as a compliment be prepared, I just have to wait to have the book in my hands...,I won't forgive the less minimum mistake. I'll be implacable. 🙂
In bocca al lupo, merde and break a leg!
I have the book!
Arrived yesterday. I was too anxious!
It's great! No disillusionment. Even better than my high expectations. And the size it's also bigger than imagined.
Mark, I made a little trick, and finally ordered by amazon dot uk, instead dot com, that wasn't available then. (couldn't wait more time). Amazon works so well for some things that I hate it. I'll wait for a drink.
I think I'll be back with some comment on some ideas the book reflected, or some pic, but you know how slow I'm on writing here.
Thank you Mark!
It means a lot to me that you liked it!
I haven't been hiding, I've been in the Yoo Ess of A!
