We have a '58 custom post and beam, and I'm trying to finish off our conversation area with a small chair. I'm deciding between a red Rinsom lounge with red cotton webbing (Knoll, from 1999) and a Mathsson Eva chair (relatively early production), original webbing in seemingly good shape). Both armless

Does anyone have any thoughts comparing these chairs in terms of comfort? I can only imagine the red cotton on the Rinsom fading in some winter sunlight that floods the room through celestory windows... Any thoughts appreciated.

Mathsson
I love Risom (I have the chair you're considering), but I think Mathsson is much more elegant and fluid.
I also tend to like the organic quality of Mathsson's natural webbing on natural wood.
Whichever you choose post pictures!

Went with the Mathsson
I was leaning toward this... went with the Eva. Really comfortable so far - and nice to look at!

I would never buy
a chair or sofa without sitting in it. Beauty is nice -- so is comfort ! Just looking at the lovely Eva makes me wonder what it is for -- lounging ? It leans too far back, and has too high a front edge, for upright sitting -- yet it has no arms. Odd ?

It is lovely. I have had a rest in one. It is good for a nice New Yorker read.
Not naps or dining. It is light and airy looking. A good spare chair in a
small space. I admit, entering a room as i did at a a friends home, it is
not the first chair one would go to. Once settled in i did not want to give
it up.

Ah --
that kind of chair. Thanks. We don't really have a full complement of names for the different kinds of "sit," do we. Does any language include those ?
