Richard
Hi Richard - can you let me know if you have any luck sourcing webbing other than from an other authorised Knoll dealer. dedece is my closest outlet and they aint close at all so I cant check out the samples they have. Im after black 45mm (synthetic preferably) as per original Snelling Saran dining and lounge chairs but havn't had any luck.
Cheers if you can help,

No, not stressed - in fact quite unfazed. The side & lounge chairs are sitting at the upholsterers awaiting my decision regarding colour & fabric. The chairs are family heirlooms so I would like to get as close as possible to the existing webbing. It would appear the Knoll webbing, up to date, is the nearest I have come across - so will settle for this assuming I can have it sent from the US. The cost of $90.00US is considerably cheaper than what I was quoted & hence more realistic. Thanks again.

It is a popular misconception that only polyester or parachute webbing was used. He was using woven cotton also. But the colours are somewhat difficult to get with the exception of black & white. There is one manufacturer who indicated he might be able to dye/colour-match to order. If interested I can get back to you. If you are after the obligatory black - then, try Arnold Webbing or Shann - all the best.

These are sites that I bookmarked awhile back when looking for webbing sources myself. I haven't contacted any of them and don't know if they will ship internationally, but maybe it will help in your search.
thanks
Thanks richard & spanky. i had already checked out the suppliers you mentioned richard but they dont stock the webbing i'm after. I have a number of chairs in both the cotton and poly which need rewebbing. The polyester appeals due to it's thinness - almost translucence - which allows the frame to be seen through the webbing. I can't believe it's so difficult to find!
i'm going to try to re-web...
i'm going to try to re-web my risom arm lounge chair myself.
I noticed in recent knoll website pictures that the webbing seems to wrap around the side wood without seeing any tacks. My original chairs have tack hole where the tacks would be visible.
On the knoll site (link below) you can see both ways. On the side bar there is a version of the chair with no tacks showing and if you scroll down to Product Story you can see a stack of chair seats with tacks showing. Does anyone know if knoll changed the way they web the chairs and which one should i do if i have original chairs from the '40s. Wondering how the webbing is attached without tacks.
