Yes, Ringo had a stint as "furniture designer" in the 70s. I have found very little on the subject. Does anyone know more?

I seem
I seem to recall a friend having a coffee table from this collaboration...
(and it came from a source close to Ringo, if not Ringo himself)
if my memory serves me well (and it may not)
it was circular, glass topped table, with a base in metal of compass form ...........

from what I gather these...
from what I gather these designs never obtained a maker's mark, making them very difficult to identify. being a beatles and furniture nut, i would love to see some of it. if it was good, at least marginally, i would want something from the collection. it's obviously not something you see everyday.

Maybe I will just pretend...
Maybe I will just pretend this chair is by Ringo and buy it. Even tho it's ugly.
Ringo's designs are kind of neat. The style is not something I can put my finger on. 70s contemporary? Not really my bag though.

.
That pic of the chrome and glass tables reminds me of a drum kit...what a surprise!
I vaguely remember a snide remark about Ringo's talents as a musician from a long time ago:
"Some people say Ringo isn't the best drummer in the world"
"Hell, Ringo isn't even the best drummer in the Beatles!"

WHY
are the designs of people who are famous for other talents, so often lacking...Cindy Crawford collection...Bob Mackie furniture...met him recently here in Austin, nice guy...but the furniture...well...

Because, in the examples you mention, perhaps they are just licensing their names,
and paying them to endorse the brand.
"They" being average furniture manufacturers.
"Them" being celebs, i.e. Cindy Crawford.
I don't think Cindy Crawford's line is indicative of her creative talents, but rather her agent's business acumen.

I recall a picture of Ringo standing next to one his creations in a book I have...as I recall, it was coffe table, made from two chrome Rolls Royce grilles cojoined by a slab of glass as the table top.

Debate settled!
It appears that the true father of Modern Design is Ringo "I-just-dig-the-look-of-stainless-steel" Starr.
