I love Richard Schultz' stuff....wondering if anyone else has any of his stuff?
I have a mahogany petal side table, which I bought new from Richard Schultz
Two 1966 Leisure outdoor chairs with slings in lousy condition.
1 1966 Leisure outdoor low 'coffee table' with a brown top. Nice shape.
two black Topiary outdoor chairs, which I just love.
the guy that i buy a lot...
the guy that i buy a lot of my cool stuff from had a real old richard schultz cast iron table minus the mahogney petals I wanted it put he had promised it to a
guy in Santa Fe that was going to have the petals remade
Is that a expensive table. the cast iron was all rusted and needed to be powder coated,
I have 2 patio's choc-full-o...
I have 2 patio's choc-full-o-Schultz leisure '66, including 4 lounge chairs, 4 ottomans, 2 small side tables(blue tops), 1 medium coffee table (brown top), and 2 countour lounge chairs. All are camel mesh/brown straps, almond frames, purchased new in 2004. The almond frames are starting to flake from the Florida coastal salt air, so I may have to look into the lifetime warrantee that came with. One reason for choosing Schultz66, was that the seats sat low enough to see under the handrails on my highrise patio. I'm kicking around ordering the serving cart (blue top, almond frame) for xmas.
sunlounger
To me the Shultz sunlounger is the epitome of 1960s Palm Beach sophistication. I can't ever look at this piece without picturing a movie star reclining in it, with a big sunhat and Onasis sunglasses. Plus a martini on the side table.
Pity the things are just so damn expensive. Mr Shultz must be rolling in the green folding stuff.
I'm not so sure Mr. Scultz...
I'm not so sure Mr. Scultz is rolling in dough....Keep in mind he designed his best known outdoor furniture line in 1966 for Knoll. Knoll owned the rights until 1992 when Richard and his Son Peter got/bought them back from Knoll. Thus, he's only been reaping the rewards of these designs since he started Richard Schultz Design in @ 15 years ago.
They are expensive...but
It's a weird situation. When he was asked to design the outdoor 1966 collection for Knoll (Florence Knoll was keen on creating an outdoor collection for Knoll), Schultz' collection was expensive.
When he started up his own company, he had to maintain the high prices because of the cost of manufacture.
I bought my petal table directly from them and spoke to a very nice person who explained how handcrafted each piece is and how few people actually work for his company (less than 20).
The slings are a specific problem. I have a pair of armchairs that need new slings and I asked if they would consider redoing my old slings and they said the problem was that they only have 1 'seamstress' doing the sewing for the new slings and they are niot equipped to take on any refurbishing.
It turns out that the slings have part of the actual seat construction built into the slings themselves, so that explains partly why they're so expensive.
When I was offered the two discontinued black colored topiary armchairs (for $250.00 each!) I jumped at the chance, because I have a outside deck that runs the width of my house.
They're really beautiful! (my pair is the chair on the left in Onyx)
Richard Schultz executive desk
I just found this forum and came upon your post. I have a wonderful Richard Schultz executive desk/table that he designed for Knoll when he worked there. You don't see much of his furniture from that era. It is a Walnut desk/table with stainless steel legs and stainless steel inlay on the top and on each corner. It is really a stunning table. We purchased it for my Husbands office back in 1969.This was before he started to design outdoor furniture.I am to computer illiterate to post a picture to this forum..sorry

Maxximom:
Welcome to the forum.
If you want to post a pix, take a snap of it and load it into your computer.
Then go to photobucket.com and create a free amount. It's safe and totally cool.
Then, add the pix from your computer (make sure where it's hiding on your computer).
When you add it, double click on it and resize it to the website size.
Then click on the 'direct link"; it'll automatically copy the link.
Below, you see "associated web images". Paste it there (contol-V).
Good luck
Love my Schultz furniture
As you can see, I have two new black on black dining chairs with a low brown top white table (in the back) and a white on white dining table flanked by a pair of black topiary dining chairs.
By the way, none of these cost me anywhere as much as they do new. I was lucky to get the black dining chairs for $250.00 each and the white dining table for $350.00. (I'm not bragging as much as pointing out that it's possible to get high-end luxury stuff without paying those ridiculous prices)
To complete my deck, I have a pair of yellow bertoia side chairs with yellow seat pads.
